Waldheim House from the walkway: This is the house on October 12, 2016.  Note the metal roof showing, the barley straw covered in moss, and the resulting water damage on the walls at the eaves.  This kind of damage to the logs is what is being addressed in the current phase of this project.

The first phase of this restoration project is restoring the log structure and that work started this Tuesday (Oct 11) and will continue until early December.  Late next summer we will begin phase 2, re-thatching the roof.

Waldheim House Interior corner room: The lath and plaster has been removed from the entire interior.  This photo shows the heap of plaster on the floor and the condition of the inside of the log walls.  Restoration of the walls will be done from the inside and out, and once that’s completed, new chinking will be applied inside and outside and new plaster will be applied on the inside.

Exciting developments at the museum and thank you to Andrea Dyck for keeping us up to date.
