Members of the Saint Anne Police Department conducted a bike Repair workshop for local kids, to get their bikes ready for the rodeo and bicycle season.

Police Chief Marc Robichaud says they were able to tune up bikes, fix brakes, inflate tires, and grease chains to make sure the bikes were safe for bicycle season. “The response was great, this is something we used to do years ago, and because bike safety is so important, we decided to do it again.”

There was a bike rodeo Thursday evening at the Police station, where kids could come with their bikes already decorated, or they could decorate them there.

Recreation Services Manager Carolyn Cameron says there were prizes for each age category for decorated bikes. “The bike rodeo gives kids an opportunity to go through an obstacle course and get a better understanding about stopping and looking both ways, and having a little track laid out for them to bike around.”

Cameron adds, there was a parade of bikes for families. “ We wanted to bring families together at the free event, decorate bikes, and build community.
