'Blind Date With A Book' has kick started I Love To Read month at the Jake Epp Library.

Program Coordinator Madison Friesen laughs and says when you first walk into the library you will see a bistro set with two books going on a date. Friesen explains Assistant Librarian Aubrey Walker and herself have selected books from the library and wrapped them in brown paper to disguise their identity. She notes there are short descriptions written on the decorated wrapping so you can chose which genre you would prefer, or to stay away from books you may not want to read, such as a horror or thriller themed book.

Friesen says 'Blind Date With A Book' has already started and will be running up until February 14. She notes after you've finished reading the book you can 'Rate Your Date' at the library for a chance to win prizes. She adds there is also an event planned for children.

"Because the 'Blind Date With A Book' is kind of an older teen, adult themed event, we are also doing a children's event at the end of the month to encourage family literacy once again. We have an author from Steinbach, her name is Barbara Ann Derksen and she does Christian fiction as well as children's fiction books. So she's going to be there as well as an author that I've recently met and made an acquaintance of, from Winnipeg, her name is Mia Teller. She is a First Nations author, she's actually Metis, but her children's book is called 'Timothy and the Seven Teachings.' So it's about the sacred seven teachings of the First Nations people of Canada."

The children's book reading event will take place on February 26 at 1 p.m.
