The Town of Ste. Anne has had a great start to the year as far as building permits go.

Marc Darker is the Operations Manager for the Town, he says they've had 14 major permits pulled, with a total value of nearly 4 million dollars.

He says most of the permits are for new housing starts. “The first quarter has gone better than expected, and it's very strong. Single family homes have already doubled last years total.”

Darker says 55 plus housing is in high demand, with units filling up faster than they can be built. He says, most of the new housing starts are in the new development areas in town, on Arthur Fiola Place and Seine River Crossing.

Darker says so far the town services are able to keep up with the demand. “We are good for now, but we are working on a plan to expand our lagoon this year, and that includes purchasing more land.”
