One person was taken to hospital following a semi collision Wednesday morning near Paradise Village.

The crash involved two vehicles travelling east along the Trans Canada Highway. According to RCMP, the driver of a semi truck from B.C. thought the vehicle ahead of him was travelling at speed limit, which is 100 km/h there. However, once he got closer, he realized the SUV was only driving approximately 80-90 km/h.

Police say the driver of the semi could not move to the other lane because there was already a vehicle in the passing lane. He applied the brakes but ended up rear-ending the SUV, causing it to veer into the ditch and roll.

RCMP say the driver of the SUV was taken to hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
