The effort to build a cattle slaughter facility in this province is over.Ranchers Choice Co-op has scrapped plans to build in Dauphin, saying they are broke.  Keystone Agricultural Producers vice president Ian Wishart of Portage is disappointed there won't be a processing plant in Manitoba.  He adds it brings home how difficult it is to get into the industry.  Wishart believes the eastern prairies need a slaughter facility, despite increased capacity further west.  Wishart was also an investor in the project, and expects to lose his money.  He points out most investors contributed only what they felt they could lose, but wonders what will become of all the hardware purchased by Ranchers Choice.
