Employees of enVision Community Living in Steinbach have ratified their first collective agreement.

Highlights of the contract include solidified job security, expanded benefits and retirement to more workers and wage increases.

The employees are members of Education, Service, and Health Care Union, Local 306, affiliated with Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC).

"Our committee worked very hard over several months to achieve a robust first agreement with the employer that addressed many diverse interests of the bargaining unit," says Geoff Dueck Thiessen, CLAC regional director. "The first agreement is a good start, and it lifts up employees, which further supports the mission and purpose of enVision. We thank the members for their patience during this process."

The 51 employees work primarily as support workers, sorters and truck drivers at Kindale Industries and Eastman Recycling Services.

They joined the union in March of last year.
