The 11th Annual Gymkhana (fun horse show) is happening in Sundown this weekend!

Wayne Fuchs stopped by to tell us about the event:

"Abe and Wendy Rempel started this event many years ago, and it's always been geared towards the kids.  They had an ill child, they had some struggles; but they continued to look forward and make things better for other kids who 'didn't have, or couldn't afford to do'.  This has turned out to be a huge fundraiser."

The Rempels host the event on their own property - there's no admission, they offer free camping for the entire weekend (and their property is fabulous with a ton of bush AND their very own lake)!

The events begin on Saturday, August 29th at 4:00 pm with the Senior jackpot Gymkhana. There will be a perogy supper at 6:00 pm and Entertainment begins at 7:00 pm with Little Jimmy and the Friendly Chaps. Sunday starts off with a $2 Pancake Breakfast from 8-10 a.m., 10:00 a.m. is Cowboy Church and at 1:00 pm the Gymkhana begins -- SO MUCH FUN!  Food, auction and 50/50 provided by Sirko Women's Assocation and all proceeds will go to the Shevchenko Parent Advisory council and a play structure for the community.

To get there, take Highway 12 south of Steinbach, turn right at Sundown Corner, go 1 mile, turn left.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  Again, there is NO admission fee and camping is free too!  You don't need to be "horsey" to participate - bring your lawn chairs and a few friends.  If you need to know more, contact Abe at 204.425.7796 or Julie at 204.425.7801.
