The Hanover Ag Spring Rodeo wraps up this Sunday afternoon.

Spokesperson Wayne Lemay says they normally hold the rodeo on May long weekend but changed the date because of a history of bad weather. He notes this is the Hanover Ag Societies sixth annual spring rodeo event. He says this year the Heartland Rodeo Association put on the rodeo side of the weekend.

“Heartland Rodeo is Manitoba-based. They are more of a home homegrown kind of rodeo association, so you are going to see more local people riding in this then perhaps at some of the other ones, so that is exciting. Very skilled riders so that is going to be a good time.”

Lemay says they always run the bull riding and rough stock school in conjunction with the rodeo. He notes the school is for a variety of ages and skill levels. He says the had a Gymkhana event on Friday night which demonstrates the skill of horse and rider.

Lemay says the Hanover Ag Society always enjoys putting on the spring rodeo.

“We love doing this. The Hanover Ag Society is all about celebrating life in the country, it is all about celebrating rural living, and this is one of those opportunities to bring people together and really celebrate being from here.”

Lemay notes rodeo people are a tough bunch and they will keep the event rolling rain or shine.
