Hog Barn Burns - Update Sunday

Three fire departments battled a hog barn fire east of Blumenort Saturday.  Steinbach Assistant Deputy

Fire Chief Kelvin Toews says members from Steinbach, Kleefeld and Giroux were on scene for about twelve hours.  The call came in just before 3am.  More than 4,000 hogs in the 50,000 square foot barn perished in the blaze.  Toews reports there were no human injuries.  The fire commissioner has been on scene but so far there is no official cause of the fire.  Damage is estimated at close to $5 Million.
