La Broquerie council was approached to be a part of the iHunter Manitoba app.

iHunter Manitoba is a hunting app which helps hunters plan their hunt, look up regulations and track locations of animals. Reeve Lewis Weiss says the co-creator of the app, Mark Stenroos, approached council asking for the municipality's ownership maps so they could be included in the app for hunters.

"It will be a hunting app that hunters would purchase and then they would have a map of our entire municipality," notes Weiss. "In the past, hunters dropped in and they would purchase a map on occasion and now they would actually buy it and have it on their iPhone [or Android]. Now it would save them time from dropping in here."

Weiss says, by giving permission to have their municipality maps on the app, they will be given 30% of the profits in return. He notes, although council has a few questions for Stenroos such as; How do you track how many apps are sold?, it unanimously voted in-favour of contributing to the app. Weiss notes, council will also discuss whether or not they will continue to sell the maps through the municipal office after they are on the iHunter app.
