Subsoil moisture conditions are good to fair in the southeast, but crops could use some additional moisture.  This week's Manitoba Agriculture crop report states crops are advancing well with spring wheat entering the early flag leaf stage.  Canola is in the 6-8 leaf stage and soybeans are in the first to second trifoliate stage.  Corn is 8-10 inches tall and continues to advance rapidly.  Most winter wheat fields have been sprayed for leaf disease.
Haying is almost complete with this year’s first cut coming off in excellent condition.  Early cut alfalfa fields have 8-10 inches of new growth and indications are an early second cut is possible.
