Major repairs to the Marchand Community Club headquarters are planned to begin as soon as contractor proposals are in at the end of this month.

With roughly $8,000 from the club, $30,000 from RM of La Broquerie, and $38,000 from a provincial “Community Spaces Grant”, Leisure Services Coordinator David Little says all of the resources are in place to give the old clubhouse a significant face lift.

“I actually just found out that the main part of the building is over 100 years old and I think it used to be part of the old schoolhouse,” details Little, “so, it certainly is in desperate need of repairs.”

The total $75,000 in funding will go towards replacing the building’s floor and shoring up its foundation. Little notes the Marchand Community Club is very important to residents there and is glad the funding is in place to keep it operational.
