A man from Steinbach is facing a long list of charges after being arrested in Winnipeg Tuesday night following a lengthy police pursuit.

Winnipeg Police report they spotted a stolen Infinity G35 on Main Street at Stella Avenue around 11:30 p.m. and tried to stop it. They say the driver took off at high speed, ran red lights and, at one point, near the Perimeter Highway, drove directly at officers who had put down a spike belt. Investigators say the vehicle continued on to Lockport, then back to Winnipeg, where spike belts were used to stop the vehicle around midnight.

21 year-old Peter Jordon Giesbrecht of Steinbach is facing the following charges:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon x 2
Possession of a Weapon
Fail to Comply with Probation Order
Drive while Disqualified

He has been remanded in custody.
