Thailand and El Salvador are the latest countries to re-open their borders to Canadian beef.  The re-openings were accomplished through the joint efforts of the Canadian embassies in both countries, plus various trade and industry groups in Canada.  Ted Haney is the president of the Canadian beef export federation.  He says it's important that these markets have opened as a reflection of the ongoing process to normalize trade around the globe in Canadian beef.  El Salvador joins Mexico as the 2nd Latin American country to officially open to Canadian beef.  While Thailand has historically not been a significant market for our beef, Haney notes it's been identified as one where future opportunities exist.
