Hespeler's Cookhouse and Tavern in Niverville has been given approval by town council to serve alcohol on their patio.

Mayor Myron Dyck says Hespeler's Cookhouse and Tavern applied with the Gaming and Liquor Authority of Manitoba to adjust their current liquor license for their lounge to include their fenced off patio area.

“The liquor license for the outdoor patio has been secured from the liquor and gaming authority, and so they just needed council to pass a resolution allowing them to do so from our end, and we have done that.”

Dyck says they will now be allowed to serve liquor on the patio from 5 p.m. To 11 p.m. He notes this will be the first in Niverville.

“This would be the only licensed patio that I am aware of. Another thing is that it comes with a one year review so we are going to review this in June 2017. That is part of the resolution council made. There was no opposition to it.”
