The search for peace Peace through Peaceful Means could be considered the basis behind a new group comprised of academics, students, and conflict resolution practitioners who have formed the new Canadian Association for Peace and Conflict Studies.

The name is still not quite official, but the organization's goal is to bring a Canadian perspective and singular platform for all those involved in this area to meet and discuss.

The genesis of this organization can be traced back to meetings held over the past year, with the latest host by Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg in June.

Dr. Timothy Donais of Wilfrid Laurier University is serving as interim coordinator of the new association, and joined the Thursday CFAM Morning Show.

Dr. Donais also explained why this type of organization was needed, and what issues it will examine.

We concluded our conversation with the Wilfrid Laurier Professor on why an organization like this is needed.

The Association plans to host its first official meeting some time in September, and aims to build the organization over its first year.
