The Rural Municipality of Hanover will be holding a consultation meeting with community leaders to identify ways of reducing their environmental impact.

Lisa Baldwin is the Manager of Recreation and Community Services. She says the municipality has been working very closely with EcoWest to conduct research and consultation on the municipalities environmental impact.

“We have assessed where we are at currently. We have done some in-house consultation with our staff and council and the next step for us is to look at reaching out into the community to look at some strategies that we could possibly look at implementing.”

Baldwin says EcoWest will be leading the community consultation meeting with approximately 20 attendants. She says it will be a discussion about topics like waste reduction, vehicle emissions, and energy conservation. She notes once all of the steps are complete EcoWest will compile the information.

“They are going to roll up all of the stuff that we have been doing like the baseline, the internal consultation, the community consultation and then they will present us with some recommendations that we could look at doing in the municipality.”

Baldwin says the meeting is set for February 17th and all of the invitations to the meeting are out.
