Approximately 600 internet customers lost service during Monday afternoon's storm.

Damage to the Richer Fire Department caused by falling tower.Simply Connected partner Dan Guetre says the 96-foot communication tower twisted and buckled during a strong wind gust, causing it to come crashing to the ground. He adds there is damage to the Richer Fire Department as a result.

"They've been contacted and they've come and assessed [the damage] to make sure there was no water coming inside the building. That has been verified by them and now it's just a matter of them coming out and rebuilding that one corner. IT's just soffit and fascia."

He adds there were no injuries when the tower fell. Guetre says this is the first time something like this has happened to them and it's been quite some time since he's heard of any other tower coming down in such a manner. He notes they hope customers are patient and are anticipating restoring service by Tuesday morning.

Guetre says there are approximately ten antennas on the tower and they service a large area from La Broquerie to Richer, Ste. Genevieve to Giroux, as well as east and west of Richer.
