More than 270 people helped raise over $25,000 Sunday for Steinbach Bible College.

The College held its annual fundraising faspa. Ben Dueck, Director of Advancement for SBC says the money raised will be used towards a new program called, Activate. Dueck says Activate is

(Steinbach Bible College)a home discipleship program, designed to disciple and educate young adults that don't go off to college or university but who still want to dig deeper in their Bible knowledge and grow in their faith.

"Raising twenty-five thousand dollars makes a big difference in the development of Activate," says Dueck. "It allows us to also envision forward a little bit more to plan as to how it can grow."

Dueck says they foresee this being a program that could be run in Churches across Canada and even into constituent Churches in the United States, Mexico, Belize or Paraguay. He notes it has the possibility of having an impact in a wide area.

According to Dueck, Sunday's turnout was among the highest ever for their fundraising faspa, though donations were down a little. He guesses the reason why last year raised more is because they were then paying off a major project which involved repairs following flooding in the men's dorm. Dueck says they had a very good response last year to that very time sensitive project.

Nonetheless, he says they are really excited by the amount raised Sunday, noting he was blown away by the number of people that have a place in their heart for the ministry at SBC.

SBC holds two major fundraisers each year; the other one is their golf tournament. Prior to the meal Sunday, they held a Sängerfest in the Chapel. Dueck says this included singing hymns, special numbers and stories from alumni.
