The Grunthal Fire Department was called to a single vehicle incident involving a school bus that flipped onto its side at the corner of Road 36E and 27N at around 1 pm Tuesday afternoon.

Grunthal District Fire Chief Peter Bestvater says there were two students and a bus driver on board and everybody appears to be uninjured.

“It appears that a school bus heading south hit the ditch while trying to avoid somebody in the intersection. As it slid into the ditch at slow speed it slid onto it's side and is now laying on it's side in the ditch.”

Bestvater says the ambulance was already on scene when the fire department arrived. He notes the fire department blocked off the intersection of Road 36E and 27N because it was very slippery and they didn't want anyone hitting any of the emergency workers.

Bestvater advises the public to drive carefully on the gravel roads because they are extremely icy.
