The Town of Ste. Anne held their annual snow sculpture contest on Friday afternoon.

The three finalists were 6 Riviere Road taking first place with a Mickey and Minnie snow sculpture, second place went to 17 Riviere road with a painted Lego piece, and third place went to 6 Gagne Bay with dice.

The Administrative Assistant for the Town of Ste. Anne, Genevieve Gingras was one of the judges. She says there was certain criteria that had to be met to win. “We looked at the creativity, detail in appearance, and the effort put into the snow sculpture. The creativity on all the sculptures was beautiful.”

Gingras adds, "This year the public works department delivered the snow blocks horizontally rather than vertically for safety reasons. Years ago the Public Works Department would set up and deliver up to 30 blocks of snow, this year there weren't that many.”

Guy Gauthier took the first place prize, he says he and his daughter Kailey have been participating for four years. “I entered because I enjoy working on them with my youngest daughter. The first one we did was Stitch from Lilo and Stitch, he was on a surf board. Two years ago we did the Minions. We had Gru with about 25 Minnions all over our yard. We didn't do it last year, but we decided to do it again this year. My wife has been wanting us to do Mickey and Minnie since we started, that's why we did it this year.”

Gauthier says they spent about 12 hours over three days working on the Mickey and Minnie snow sculpture. He says, “It's awesome to win, but we do it for fun. Winning is just a bonus."
