Future Considerations

Head coach and GM details the move. "We traded for the list rights to Braden Purtill who spent the last 3 years in the Western Hockey League and the list rights of '99 goalie Matt Radomsky, a goalie with a bright future. We feel this move makes us a better team down the road. We also had to give up a good player in Trevor Selk. We felt he could play anywhere on our back end, he's a good puck moving defenseman but we also felt with the guys we had, there would be a better opportunity and play a bigger role in Dauphin."

Dyck is not sure when Purtill will be on the official Steinbach Pistons roster, but is looking forward to seeing what the forward can do once in blue and white. "He's a big body, he's a power forward type that plays a hard game and take pucks to the net. We feel he will be a productive player for us offensively. Where exactly he's going to fit, I'm not sure, but I firmly believe he will be an integral part of our hockey team. We're excited to have him in our lineup at some point."

With adding Radomsky, Dyck get's a goalie for now and perhaps the future. "We weren't looking to make a trade just to add a goaltender, we wanted to add a young goalie with a bright future. He has a strong track record as one of the goalies for Team Manitoba U16 program two years ago. He's big, he's athletic and he's mature for his age. We feel there's a lot of potential there. We lean on Dan (Ferguson, the Pistons goalie coach) heavily. Dan's very familiar with goalies in our province and with that being said, our whole staff is familiar with Matt."
