The Steinbach Legion Hall is now officially for sale. Bill Richards, President of the Steinbach Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, says they have received the official go ahead from Northwest Command.

"We have contracted with a local realtor and have had a commercial appraisal done and we are officially for sale. We are both anxious and excited because we now have the opportunity to look forward to a new home that meets our current demands and needs and we can say goodbye to our old home in a gracious manner."

The local Legion decided to sell the building because it is no longer financially viable for the organization. Richards says they will sell the building through a tender process and will review bids at the end of November. He notes they will honour all rental contracts for the hall through the end of the year.

Meanwhile, Richards says they are also close to finalizing a new location for the Legion to operate in Steinbach.

"The realtor we've contracted has already provided us with four potential options and is seeking others. But we're actually focusing on one right now and we're beginning to do some very informal negotiations with respect to a long term lease and, all I can say is that we'll still be in Steinbach. That's all I'm going to say at this point."

The Legion held its annual Veteran's Dinner Sunday to say thank-you to all local members of the military and police who serve and protect us.
