A man known affectionately as "Poppa" by neighbourhood children in Mitchell is fighting for his life in hospital after a devastating accident that left burns covering 90% of his body.  Tim Stobert was trying to light a fire in a wood stove in the family garage last Saturday when it exploded.  He is currently in a medically induced coma at Health Sciences Centre.  Tim has already undergone one surgery to graft donor skin onto his hands feet and back, with another slated for tomorrow (Wednesday).  Doctors estimate that Tim has at least a couple of years' worth of surgeries ahead of him.

Family and friends have started a Go Fund Me page to help offset the immediate expenses that the family has incurred as a result of the accident (hotel costs for family, travel to and from Winnipeg, etc.)  Those who are unable to contribute financially are asked to keep the Stobert family in their thoughts and prayers.
