Following last year's success, Taste of Steinbach is making its return this May.

Executive Director Tessa Masi says the gigantic banquet was held on Elmdale Street in front of the arena last year and it was almost rained out.

“That was a little tense, and I mean, when you're coming into summer, you don't necessarily know what to expect in Manitoba weather-wise.”

Despite this, she notes “It was a huge success!”

Masi says their first Taste of Steinbach event turned into an unforgettable dining experience and they are shaking things up for the second iteration.

“Every year for Taste of Steinbach, we want to move it to a different location. We were at Elmdale Street last year and that was super fun. This year we're doing it at the North Airport on the taxiway with the table looking onto the runway. We have some really cool themed events that are going to happen at this dinner and then of course showcasing all the local food again.”

Why choose the Steinbach North Airport?

Masi says “I think Steinbach's airport is really underrated and we just wanted to find something that we could showcase, that's local, that we have that maybe some other communities don't have but at the same time really lean into a theme that is so fun.” She adds “We're going to have some aerobatics happening, it's going to be great.”

Once again, the giant banquet will feature one very long table and guests can purchase an individual section.

“We're really excited to have expanded the event a little bit this year, whereas last year we had just under 400 people, this year we're aiming for 500. Having said that, we probably only have 12 tables left that people can buy tickets for. That just means that if you're interested, visit the chamber website or call the chamber for your tickets.”

This year’s Taste of Steinbach event will be held on Tuesday, May 28th.
