Highway 52 and Kokomo Road was shut down for approximately four hours Friday night after a two vehicle collision.

Steinbach RCMP Corporal Glen Binda says the collision occured around 7:15 p.m., "It was determined that a vehicle (car) was travelling east-bound on Highway 52, went to make a left-hand turn north bound onto Kokomo Road. Another vehicle was travelling west-bound on [Highway] 52. It appears that the person turning didn't see the vehicle coming and it was a head-on collision."

Binda notes the car turning had a single female occupant and was transferred to the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg by STARS Air Ambulance. He says she was transferred in stable condition and undetermined injuries.

He adds the other vehicle, an older model Chevy truck, had three occupants. Binda says the three occupants in the truck were looked at by EMS on scene and released.

An analyst was called to the scene to investigate the collision causing the intersection to be shut down until almost 12 a.m. RCMP and La Broquerie Fire were facilitating detours for drivers.
