Alfalfa crops here in the southeast are becoming stressed by drought-like conditions.  John McGregor of Manitoba Agriculture says a number of producers have been asking whether they should go ahead with the second cut.  He tells us research done at the University of Nebraska suggests if the alfalfa is tall enough to cut, and it's flowering, go ahead because there won't be much additional growth.  McGregor adds we will need an inch or 2 of rain in the coming weeks if there is to be a third cut this year.
