"Smell the Flowers Tour 2009" Wed.July 15/09.

Image

We've all heard the saying "Make sure to stop and smell the roses" -- how about smelling all the flowers. The tour is on this Sunday, July 19th and Oakridge Greenhouse is hosting. You need a ticket to see the 8 gardens that are on the tour, and you get those tickets at Oakridge. Stop by or call 326.1015. Erna stopped by the morning show today and it was nice to see her again, and talk gardening. The summer has come around weatherwise... and it's going to get even better after this last rainy stint has passed. I can hardly wait till the sunny, warm weekend. Thanks Erna. Michelle.

I'm back!! Wonderful summer holiday! Mon.July 13/09.

Hello again!! We just returned from our summer holiday! What a great time we had! To be honest, it started out on a bit of a sad note. Our original plans were to drive to Chicago and spend some time there. We were going to leave on Tuesday, June 30th - but after my husband threw his back out on the Monday night just before that -- the drive to Chicago was impossible. We were sad for a moment -- and then, we tried to figure out what else we could do. The boys and I ended up spending almost a week at my in-laws cabin!! Thank you Herman and Martha Koop for saving the day and our holiday! We LOVE it there -- and we had great weather and fabulous time. There's no more relaxing place than the cottage with wonderful people taking care of you! We returned home last Monday and by Wednesday we were in the car driving to Minneapolis. My husband's back was good again and we enjoyed the Mall of America, a waterpark in our hotel and Valleyfair!! I will go through my pictures and share some special moments with you -- hopefully tomorrow. That's another whole challenge after a holiday isn't it? Getting the pictures together and actually in a format that you can share it with others. I'll work on that and chat with you again tomorrow. Have a super day!! Michelle.

I am off!! Happy Canada Day! Tue.June 30/09.

Well, my friends - thanks to those of you who follow my blog. I will be away for about a week and a half. Perhaps I'll still fill you in on my vacation through my blog as I go. I can't make any promises - I may be too busy having family time - but I'll try. Summer holidays are such a time to look forward to... and I am so glad that they're here! Al Friesen will take care of The Morning Show for the next while and I'm sure he'll have plenty of guests to help him out with that. Have a wonderful week and a half and you'll hear me again on Monday, June 13th on AM1250! Take care! Michelle.

Eastman Raiders football on the right track!! Mon.June 29/09.

It was an eye opener for me. My family and I went to an Eastman Raiders football game on Sunday afternoon. What a great time!! Of course, our team blanked Transcona 26-0 and that was fun! But I was amazed how they packed the stands and the lawn chairs filled the sideline right up!! I loved the support that was being shown to our young athletes! We will certainly be back. A super way to spend family time -- at the Raiders game on a Sunday afternoon. Way to go to Christian Sanchez and his crew -- really making a big difference in the lives of many young men in the southeast! And some really good football to boot! I loved it! Michelle.

SRSS Graduation - huge success! Mon.June 29/09.

Image

3 lovely young ladies in the style of 2009 -- strapless, colorful, and fun!!

Huge would be an understatement -- in the end 372 young people graduated from the Steinbach Regional Secondary School at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. After seeing the celebration hosted there -- there's no question to me that it was the right place to be. There was so much room for everyone to sit and enjoy the ceremony and the banquet. I thought the best thing this year is that the graduates had the freedom to invite whoever they wanted. It was special to see round tables filled with families -- grads, escorts, siblings, parents and grandparents. Everyone had so much fun and for the most part it ran unbelievably smoothly -- especially since this was the first time in a new place. Of course, lots of mixed emotions -- friends having so much fun together and then, tears when the hugs and good-byes began. Some grads knowing that they won't see many of their friends for a long time -- certainly not in the same setting. It's a big change but certainly, with so many wonderful young people graduating - our future is in good hands. Way to go grads!! Michelle.

Young Actress Makes Final Preparations for Vegas

10-year old Jessica Nye, of Blumenort, has been training hard for the International Presentation of Performers. This international talent competition kicks off in Las Vegas June 28 and runs through July 2.

Jessica will be entering the 9-12 year old actor/actress category. In preparation for the event she has been memorizing commercials, monologues, and scenes with the help of her director, John F Stevens, Executive Director of John Robert Powers Canada. One of the scenes has to do with kid’s vitamins and Jessica even has to bring along a bottle of Flintstones Chewable Vitamins as a prop.

“I am very excited to be travelling to Las Vegas to perform. I know I will make a lot of great new friends and am bringing along Canada pins to give away. I have worked hard and will do my best – and have a lot of fun too!” exudes Jessica.

The Nye family is overwhelmed by the support of residents and businesses from the South East and wishes to express sincere thanks for all the love, support and well wishes that have been extended to Jessica.
