Congratulations to Wes and Jo Unger, owners of Dairy Queen in Steinbach, on the birth of their first grandchild!! He was born on Easter Sunday morning and his name is Gavin. Proud parents are Keith and Kassi Unger and to celebrate - the proud grandparents gave away free sundaes yesterday from 11-7 pm at Dairy Queen. Yes, we went!! Of course, couldn't miss getting free sundaes! Hot caramel seemed to be our family's favorite! That's where the "thank you" comes in. When we stopped by just after supper the place was packed... and we were all VERY much enjoying the yummy sundaes on a beautiful evening! I was happy for all of the families that were afforded a great night out with a sundae treat to boot. Have a great day! Michelle.

If you've never had cancer, we just can't know what it must be like to experience any of it. Moving forward after cancer would be another challenge and how nice to come together with others who understand you and what you're going through. That's what the "Moving Forward after Cancer" event is all about. Jen Reimer stopped by the AM1250 studio this morning and chatted about it. It's coming up this Saturday, April 10th from 1-4 in the afternoon at the Bethesda Hospital and if you'd like to attend call Jen at 346.5160... or as she said this morning -- just drop in and you'll be fine. It's taking place in the Summit conference room. Oh, it's free AND refreshments will be served.

It's Easter weekend! Just like every other season - it seems that this has come quickly as well. For those of you who have given something up for Lent - good for you - and you are almost done. I hope that it has served it's purpose in focussing you on God and the Easter season to come. I'm sure many of you are going to be spending time at a family gathering or two. We will be, two in fact. I look forward to them. This year, I was reminded that not everyone has a "happy family time" to enjoy at Easter. I pray, then, that you will each find a special connection to Christ and what he did for us on this most special weekend. And if a little bit of chocolate happens to make it's way into your weekend -- in the form of an egg, bunny or otherwise... enjoy that too. HAPPY EASTER!!! We'll talk to you again on the AM1250 Morning Show - Monday! Michlele.

Darrel on the left and Steve on the right -- facing off in an XBox hockey game in the studio before heading to the real game tonight.
Are you going to the game?Steinbach Huskies and the LaBroquerie Habs face off at 8:00 pm TONIGHT in Steinbach. Let's pack the arena -- just like the good ol' days!! Habs' coach Steve Broesky and Huskies' coach Darrel Delong stopped by the AM1250 studio this morning to look ahead to the big game. Yes, it is game 7 in the best of 7 series... quite something. My memories of watching the Huskies as a kid includes those awesome fries with extra vinegar and extra ketchup. Maybe you have some memories of your own... how about we make some new ones at the game TONIGHT!! Cheer on your team and enjoy a great night of hockey! Michelle.

It was a thrill to be a part of the final concert of the 2010 Southeastern Manitoba Festival. The SRSS theatre was filled with performers, accompanists, proud parents and grandparents, presenters of the trophies, executive members and volunteers. It was the perfect ending to another successful festival. If you'd like to hear the Gala concert and all of the highlights nights - tune in to AM1250 on April 5,6, and 7 at 7:00 pm each night. We will replay them for you on our Evening Concert Series. Check out highlights from the Gala concert in the AM1250 podcasts. Congratulations to all who participated -- and encourage others to get involved. Enrich your community -- Support Acheivement in the Arts. Oh, and listen at 10:30 this morning for my last festival report -- thanks to Musical Directions in Steinbach. If you'd like to hear some of the other reports -- you can always check the AM1250 podcasts. Thanks for taking the time to visit the AM1250 page -- have a super day! Michelle.
