A Manitoba farm couple is finding there's a resurgence in the market for wool products.  Kim Streker, along with her husband Joe, own Sheeples Fine Fibres.  Their operation includes more than 300 sheep, bred specifically for their fine, soft wool.  After shearing the sheep, the wool is processed and Streker then knits, weaves, crochets, or dyes the wool, depending on its intended use.  They then market the yarn and wool products mainly in the City of Winnipeg and online.  Streker says they believe it's a growing market, as consumers are shifting back to natural fibres.  She notes the wool naturally wicks away moisture, reflects body heat and, when processed properly, does not irritate the skin.  She explains most people who consider themselves allergic to wool only react because the fibre is poorly processed.  Whereas most sheep producers in the province raise their animals for meat, the Strekers are the only operation of this size focusing on the wool market.
