The Steinbach Pistons win consecutive games in dramatic fashion. After defeating the Selkirk Steelers 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday, the Pistons do it again, defeating the Virden Oil Capitals by the exact same score in overtime Friday evening in front of 730 fans at the T.G. Smith Centre.
Dennis Bosc returned to the Pistons lineup after spending time at Canada's Team West tryout in Calgary. Winnipeg Blues Peter Stoyewich and Kurt Keats are the only MJHL players who will be representing Team West at the upcoming 2012 World Junior A Challenge in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Bosc made an immediate impact scoring two goals. His second of the game was the game winner just one minute and eight seconds into overtime. Almost identical in time to Dustin Loeppky's overtime winner on Wednesday, which was scored 1:04 seconds into the extra frame.
Riley Soderstrom put the Pistons on the scoreboard first with his 3rd goal of the year and Kurt Johnas contributed his 6th of the season to round out the Steinbach's scoring. Sean Collins, Kolby Woods and former Steinbach Pistons player Richard Olson all scored for the Oil Capitals.
Friday's win is the first time the Pistons have won back-to-back games this season. Steinbach now holds a 7-8-1 record to put them in 9th place in the MJHL.
The Pistons will have a shot at reaching the .500 mark for the first time this year when they travel to play the 8-7-2 Selkirk Steelers for a Sunday matinee 2:30pm game at the Selkirk Recreational Centre.
