The Piston's have made it to the playoffs and Steinbach Parks and Recreation is getting ready for the anticipated sold out attendance. That means close to 1450 fans per game could make their way to the T.G Smith Centre. How do 1450 people fit into the Centennial Arena? That is a question for the head of parks and rec Russ Dyck who says they have prepared for crowds like this in the past.
"We normally put in some temporary risers for any large events the last one for hockey would have been the Allen Cup in 2009".
Earlier this week city crews spent a few days installing standing risers around the rink. Dyck says this will "provide a better viewing area for some of the standing fans".
He notes that it is great to see The Pistons and both the Junior and Senior Huskies make the playoffs.
