A basketball player from Steinbach is happy to have qualified for the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games, which will be under way in less than two weeks.

Tich Jura says he has played basketball since grade five, but got serious about the sport in grade seven. He says he plays point guard during the basketball season at his school, he's played volleyball and is looking forward to playing football for his school team in the fall. He says he has played basketball against many of the guys he will now be playing with.

“There were a lot of good guys at the tryouts, and I was really happy when I found out I qualified. I'm really looking forward to our team coming together because I know a lot of the guys from other communities. Hopefully we can come out with a really good show at the summer games.”

Jura says he's happy to be in the age group competing in the summer games and is looking forward to seeing the skill of other athletes in Manitoba.
