For the first time in 11 games, the Steinbach Pistons trailed late into the third period before a late goal tied it and then some overtime heroics pushed the Pistons to their 11th straight win, 3-2 over the Dauphin Kings on Friday night and now have the longest winning streak in franchise history.

Both teams early on showed that they are two of the fastest teams in the MJHL, exchanging speedy rushes without getting any overly great scoring chances. Close to the mid way point of the opening period, Dauphin converted on the power play staking them to a 1-0 lead. Steinbach's league best power play answered back before the period was through as Declan Graham, sneaking in off the point, converted a pass from brother Mack to knot things up at 1-1. Will Koop picked up the secondary assist on the goal. The period ended with shots being 11-10 Pistons.

In the second period, Steinbach grabbed momentum and never really let it go. The Pistons peppered goalie Brandon Holtby with 14 shots including deflections, in tight rebounds and straight on shots but all were answered by the 20 year old Dauphin goalie. Steinbach also hit two posts in the period. Shots were heavily on the side of the hometown Pistons 14-3.

The third period was much of the same early on with Steinbach pushing the pace but Holtby standing tall. It was the Kings that found the back of the net in the middle part of the period and grabbed a 2-1 lead. A late power play gave the Pistons the opportunity they needed to tie the game as Darby Gula came streaking in off the point and buried another perfect pass from Mack Graham and with just 1:32 left on the clock. Koop picked up his second assist on the night as the final moments would tick away, the horn signalled overtime.

Early in the extra period, Gula returned the favour of an excellent pass to Mack Graham that sprung the 19 year old Toronto native just 18 seconds into the extra frame and Graham made no mistake going bar down, giving Steinbach the win in front of over 1000 happy fans.

Mack Graham had 3 points on the night and set a new team record for the fastest goal in overtime (previous record was held by Jordan Hebert in 2010-11 at 20 seconds). The power play finished 2-6 and the penalty kill went 1-3. Roman Bengert picked up win number 9 making 17 saves. Steinbach had 31 shots on goal in the contest.

The same two teams will meet up on Saturday night as the Pistons will have the very popular "Pink in the Rink" night with money raised going to Cancer research. The players will wear special pink jersey's that fans will be able to bid on during the game. Puck drop is at 7:30pm at the TG Smith Centre.
