The Steinbach Pistons came rolling into the MTS Iceplex on a six game winning streak but it came to an end as they fell to the Winnipeg Blues 4-2.

The Pistons surrendered the first goal of the game just thirty seconds in but continued to push throughout the opening frame, eventually clawing back and taking a 2-1 lead into the second. Assistant coach Rob Smith shared his thoughts on the opening period. "I thought we came out hard and had a good start to the game. We were going, we had good rhythm and physical. Then we got into penalty trouble."

The second period was a stream to the penalty box for Steinbach as they would be shorthanded four times but were able to kill off all four in the period. Smith talked about how being a man short worked against his club. "It has such an effect on the game. You don't get everybody in, you have guys sliding down and you're expending a lot more energy. I thought our kill was good today, I mean it had to be. We just couldn't get anything going in that second period, it was kind of a wasted period for us."

The Blues would tie it up in the second before grabbing the lead midway through the third and salted away the victory late.

Cole Smith and Jordan Bochinski had the goals for Steinbach while Connor Martin, Dan Taillefer, Julien Koga and Matt Gomercic had the assists.

Jermey Wik took the loss making 27 saves on the night. The power play went 0-2 while again the penalty kill was strong again finishing 6-7.

The Pistons will have Monday off before preparing for the Portage Terriers on Wednesday night in Steinbach. "It's great to have a game to look forward to" said Rob Smith post-game, "the guys will be ready for this one and it's going to be a great test for us, them being the number 1 team, we're going to go all out, the guys will be ready."
