Raiders Days Weekend along with the Eastman Raider's Football Club 25th Anniversary celebration takes place Saturday and Sunday.

President Sean Walsh says they have different events set up for the community on Saturday and Sunday as well as an award presentation to Paul Beauchamp, the founder of the Eastman Raiders Football Club. Walsh adds Saturday there will be four games played and on Sunday three games. He says the board has been working on this weekend for months and will be happy to see it pulled off.

"It's for the kids," notes Walsh. "You put in tireless hours sometimes and you don't get paid for this job but at the same time, in the end, it's rewarding."

Walsh notes he loves the sport adding the Eastman Raiders are not just a Steinbach team but represent all the surrounding communities and bring people together. He adds this can be a great stepping stone for players who want to progress to the next level in football.

"Andrew [Harris] was a Raider," says Walsh. "It just shows that even from a small based community club you can make it. You just got to put your mind into, put your work and effort into it and Andrew is a prime example of that."

Walsh says it's an organized sport and a team effort which includes the coaches. He notes you want to see the players grow and excel in the sport and without the coaching staff to do that, there would be no sport.
