The Steinbach Regional Sabres begin a new season Monday as they open training camp for the 2015 season.

The Sabres lost in the Kas Vidruk Division 2 final last season to the St. Paul's Crusaders "AA".

"I had a great summer and I got an opportunity to take a break and re-energize," stated Sabres head coach Jamie Peters.  "I was always looking forward to football season.  It's always a great day to play and it's been a long time away from the game.   I am very excited, I hope the boys are really excited and I hope everybody is out tomorrow (Monday) when we start off camp."

Over 40 players are expected to report to camp as the team begins it's 6th season as part of the Winnipeg High School Football League.

"It's come a long way in terms of building a program and is kind of crazy to think that it is already our 6th season," shared Peters.  "It's been a ton of fun and you just look forward to working with a new group of kids every time."

Meanwhile, Peters gave his expectations for the opening week of camp.

"The first week we are looking to get the team back in order and work off some of the rust and get some conditioning under our belts.  Work on the special teams, make sure we have our offensive and defensive systems and the slowly progress and get ready for our pre-season and week 1 game."

SRSS will take the field for an exhibition game against Miles Macdonell on September 3rd. The team will play it's home opener in week 2 against St. Paul's on September 17th.
