All season long, the Steinbach Pistons have used different players to find ways to win and on Friday night, it was Bradley Schoonbaert stepping up with a pair of goals propelling Steinbach to a 4-0 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Described as a complete 60 minute effort, head coach Paul Dyck knows it's what had to be done against a hungry Wolverines club. "There were times in the game that we felt we needed more urgency to get that second goal. We felt the game was going into their direction, falling into their game plan a little bit but it was good to see the second one go in at the end of the period."

Schoonbaert got the scoring started in the first period on the power play and added his second of the game in the middle frame with just three seconds left batting the puck out of mid-air. "I didn't know how much time was left", Schoonbaert said after the game, "I guess those baseball skills paid off." It was Schoonbaert’s 10th and 11th goal of the season.

With the Pistons leading 3-0 it was Mack Graham taking a beautiful backhand pass from Tyler Penner and going in on a shortened breakaway but made no mistake for his 10th goal on the campaign. "He does the little things well and we've mentioned this before, he may be small in stature but he wins the majority of the battles regardless of who he's up against. He goes to the front of the net and it was good to see him get rewarded. It was a great play by Penner keeping it in and Mack showed good finish on the goal.

Through much of the game, the Pistons controlled play but Wayway never gave up and consistently pushed back but Roman Bengert was there to make every save, 32 in total as he recorded his first Manitoba Junior Hockey League Shutout. "It was nice to see Roman finish this one out," Dyck said postgame, "the last couple times he's been in position to get the shutout they've scored late, which is not really a reflection on him, but another solid effort tonight."

Matt Gomercic potted his 7th of the season. Ryan Carlson, Hayden Goderis, Denis Bosc, Connor Martin (2), Penner and Cole Smith had the assists on the night.

The Pistons continues to make teams pay for taking penalties as they went 2-4 with the man advantage and the penalty kill is starting have the bounces go their way finished 3-3 on the night.

The Pistons made a trade earlier on Friday acquiring Robert Briem from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for future considerations. Dyck talked about what the 20 year old forward brings to the lineup. "We were looking to add grit and toughness and that's what Robert does. I know last year he was tough to play against and he does have some finish, he scored a hat trick against us last year. He has experience and he's a thick kid so that will address the toughness issue."

A deadline is coming up on Tuesday December 1st but not the trade deadline (trade deadline is January 10th), but it's an important deadline none the less and Dyck explains what happens come the turn of the calendar. "At the start of every season we start with 45 cards, which means we have the ability to have 45 players in our lineup at any given time. On December 1st there is a cut down to 25 so if we have 23 on our roster at that point, it allows us to make 2 transactions prior to the roster freeze on January 10th when we go down to 23 for the remainder of the season. We always like to keep a couple spots open in case we can add to make the playoff push."

The Pistons have nine 20 year old players which is the maximum allowed in the MJHL and 23 on the roster, leaving two cards open is a deal presents itself.

*Note: Waywayseecappo started Eastman Select goalie Landon Poiron who got his first MJHL start and made 34 saves in a strong debut.
