After 13 years of school, 385 students at Steinbach Regional Secondary School are graduating.

Principal Thor Barkman says this is a positive group of students who have shown interest and been engaged in school and school activities. Barkman notes the valedictorian this year is Jadden Dyck. Dyck says he found out he was voted as valedictorian while on his way to the lake, how he and his friends decided to enjoy grad skip day.

He adds something he has appreciated about this class is how everyone is able to get along while still having their closer group of friends adding he was able to find his niche when encouraged to join the school improv group.

"I never really identified myself with school because I would just hang out at school and do my school work and then, all of a sudden, I got peer-pressured into joining the school improv team, and auditioning for it. That was probably one of the best experiences I've had at school. I really got integrated into it and, because of that, I got involved in the musicals and the plays and I just found a really fun group of people."

As for after high school, Dyck notes he will be working at Bird River Bible Camp for the 10-weeks of summer and then attending School of Ministers in the fall.

Graduation took place on Saturday at 2:30 at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg.
