The province has announced it will be handing out almost $3.6 million in marking 30 years of the Community Places Program.

The funding is earmarked for projects championed by non-profit and community led organizations.

The Community Places Program provides funding and planning assistance to build, upgrade, expand or acquire facilities focused on culture, recreation and wellness.

Successful grant applicants must also contribute to project costs.

This year, 214 community groups will receive a grant.
