The Summer Reading Program at the Jake Epp Library was another success this year. Program Coordinator Madison Friesen says there weren't quite as many kids signed up this year as last year, but more books were read this year.

Friesen says even though there were fewer kids participating in the program there was more of a familial interest in reading. “So we had a lot more people checking out books from all areas of the library.”

Friesen notes a contributing factor to the increase in books signed out might be because they lowered the daily fine per book from fifty cents to ten cents this summer, so parents are taking out more books at a time.

Friesen says for the wind-up party there was a barbecue lunch, and Magician Ryan Price, who is always a hit, came out to entertain the kids again this year.
