The second annual Ricky Cup was held at the Marchand Community Centre Rink.

Organizer Dave Gagnon says the fundraising event is held in honor of Rick Lamontagne who passed away in a car accident two years ago. He says each year the money raised is used to make upgrades to areas in the community needing improvements.

This year Gagnon says they raised over $2,500 that will be used to upgrade the local cemetery. “This year we would like to put in a proper entry gate for people to get in and out, and we'll try and finish off the fence, or at least put a barrier around the cemetery."

The event includes a four on four ball hockey tournament, a canteen and a social.

Last year, Gagnon says they raised over $4,000 that was put towards the play structure at Marchand park. “Each year we'll pick something that needs improving in Marchand and the area.”

New for this year, Gagnon says they had a kids game, and because of it's popularity, they will have more kids games next year.

Gagnon adds, the third annual Ricky Cup will be held in Marchand next April. He says the final date has not yet been set.
