Steinbach city council has decided not to draft a by-law regarding semi trucks that park in residential areas. Council has received occasional complaints about trucks that are left idling, creating noise and diesel fumes that bother some neighbours. Mayor Chris Goertzen says council has received a report from the administration on this matter.

"There are only a few instances where it's been an issue. It has more to do with a noise issue and so we've asked that administration look closely at the specific ones (complaints) that have come to our attention as a city and that they enforce the Noise By-Law vigorously in the areas that this is a challenge."

Goertzen says council is serious about addressing this concern and feels stringent enforcement of the Noise By-Law will accomplish this goal.
