A two vehicle accident occurred near the intersection of Highway 1 and Provincial Road 501, about six miles west of Highway 12 at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Media Relations RCMP Sergeant Bert Paquet says their report indicates a half ton truck rear ended an MIT one ton service truck who was parked on the side of the highway acting as a buffer for crews working approximately 75 to 100 feet away. Paquet says the male driving the half ton was trapped and had to be extricated and then transported to hospital by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the MIT service truck along with the workers did not suffer any injuries. He says alcohol is not believed to be a factor and no charges have been laid at this time although RCMP are still investigating the contributing factors to the accident.
