Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced the beginning of the 2015 federal election campaign on Sunday morning with the vote set for October 19th.

Provencher MP Ted Falk says this means he will be launching the Conservative campaign locally in this coming week.

“I just look forward to going through the riding and meeting all of our constituents, listening to their concerns and being able to tell them personally that the track record our government has had in the last four years is fantastic.”

Falk notes the Conservatives will keep their main focus on the Canadian economy, jobs, and national security. He says they have a very good track record in that regard.

Falk says the recent wave of federal grants that have been announced in the Southeast needed to be announced before the election was called.

“We had announced earlier in spring that there was a call for the Small Communities component of Building Canada so we wanted to make sure that the applications that were submitted were actually announced before the writ was dropped so that there wouldn't be any delay in getting the funds out this year.”

Falk says he now needs to make the transition from being a Member of Parliament to being actively engaged in an election campaign.

“I think most people in our riding would agree that under Prime Minister Stephen Harper we have had a very good last four years and I think we look forward to another good four years with Mr. Harper at the lead.”
