The Reeve of Hanover says council has identified water retention as a priority and now it is looking to partner with the conservation district on some projects.

Stan Toews notes in their recent strategic planning session, water retention and drainage were listed as two priorities. Council has decided to partner with Seine Rat River Conservation District to see if there are areas in the municipality where water can be retained and then released more slowly.

"We're looking to the CD for guidance," notes Toews. "Because they have a lot more information on that kind of stuff and there will have to be surveys done and so on."

Toews isn't sure how much the study will cost, noting that it's difficult to predict before the possibilities have been examined.

He notes drainage is a big issue in the municipality, especially during a summer like this when there have been several large rain events.
