Council for the Rural Municipality of Hanover is submitting its annual wish list to The Manitoba Water Services Board. Each year, Hanover sends a list, outlining which water services projects are of greatest priority to the municipality.

The number one item on that list this year is a new lift station for Grunthal. According to the municipality, current growth in Grunthal is reaching system maximums and force main capacities.

The number two item is an expansion of the New Bothwell aeration and lagoon. The municipality suggests an increase in industry production is creating the need for these upgrades.

Reeve Stan Toews says the municipality will hire a consultant to perform a review and study of both projects. Each review is expected to cost between $4,000 and $6,000.

"If you send in your application with the study it has more weight," suggests Toews. "Because they can right away see that your grant is getting a bigger bang for their buck."

The third item on the list is a new lift station and force main for Mitchell. Similar to the request for Grunthal, current growth in that community is reaching system maximums and force main capacities.

According to Toews, these three items are relatively new to their wish list. Last year, the number one item on their list was a new lift station and force main for Blumenort. Toews says they received funding for that project and in fact the work is now nearly complete.
