The Liberal Member of the Legislature for Kewatinook, who lives in Steinbach, is disappointed in last week's Throne Speech. Judy Klassen says it contained no mention about the needs of her riding along the east side of Lake Winnipeg and further north such as a much needed road.

Judy Klassen"I was disappointed that certain issues that are prevalent to my riding, and very important, were not addressed; the east side road, the all-season road that's supposed to go in along the east side of Lake Winnipeg to a large amount of my communities, the suicide prevention, any words towards that were not specifically addressed, the nutrition factor creating a lot of challenges for my people, the diabetes epidemic, northern housing, all those bread and butter issues, it was really disheartening not to hear any of those specific words."

But Klassen notes the Throne Speech was quite brief so she's still hoping the Conservative Government will deal with these matters. She also plans to do her part to keep them on the agenda.

Meanwhile, Klassen says she is really enjoying her new job.

"I'm very honoured to be here with my teammates. It's a great learning experience. It's a very steep learning curve obviously, but it's very exciting that we'll now have a voice coming from the Liberal's perspective on addressing some of the issues that my communities face."
