Rural Municipality of La Broquerie council members visited the Manitoba Legislature this past week to talk about drainage and paving Provincial Roads 302 and 303.

Reeve Lewis Weiss says council met with the Minister of Infrastructure Blaine Pederson, La Verendrye MLA Dennis Smook, and Brett Wareham, the Eastman Regional Director of Operations for Manitoba Infrastructure. Weiss adds they talked about the necessity of having PR 302 and 303 paved along with drainage issues along PR 302 and in the Zhoda area.

"We all went there to meet with them and I felt it was a very positive meeting. Of course being a new government the province is getting all the finances in order right now. They felt, at the meeting, that it would be something they would not be able to look at for at least three years."

He says notes were taken about the current drainage issues and it was communicated that investigations will take place to see what could be done to remedy the situation.

"I introduced a different, partial drainage that would help some of the people in that area immediately," notes Weiss. "So, Brett Wareham is going to be looking into whether that drainage plan could work."
